Decorating a Nursery on a Budget
One of the rooms that gets a lot of attention in terms of being the most fun to decorate is a baby’s nursery! But with all of the other costs that come along with a new baby, you don’t want decorating to eat away even more of your budget.
Use books!
A baby shower that I went to recently asked all of the guests to bring their favorite childhood books. This was a great way for guests to share a special gift and the books add a great element to a nursery theme, as well as eventually creating great memories of the baby’s childhood for him or her. A bookshelf is usually pretty easy to find on Craigslist and can be easily re-painted!
Use your own baby pictures
A great, cheap idea for wall décor is to take some small, old baby pictures from family members and put them in a frame along with the new baby’s picture. It’s fun to see family resemblances and guests will love seeing everyone’s pictures!
Paint!
If you’re really creative, not only can you paint a nursery a new color, you can also stencil artwork or words onto the wall. One of the most fun things I’ve seen is the words to classic nursery rhymes painted on a child’s wall. You can also try things like stars in the sky or your new baby’s name.
Repurpose old furniture
With a little TLC, an old dresser can make a good changing table and a rocking chair can be updated with a new cushion or fresh coat of paint. The more imagination you put into it, the better the results!
